Support Our Work
What happens when an organization wants to build a house, but contributors only want their donations spent on hammers instead of paying carpenters to build the house? We end up with a lot of unused hammers, no carpenters to get the work done, and the house doesn't get built. Unfortunately, this analogy illustrates the dilemma of selective project funding without capacity support that non-profit organizations face today. We must shift the paradigm.
We cannot do the work we do without the support of our communities. By contributing to our capacity, we can focus on doing the critical work required for our initiatives in building social equity, environmental justice justice, and food sovereignty in Los Angeles. We can pay our collaborative partners for their (often unjustly unpaid) hard work and efforts in community engagement and outreach. We can pay our staff and interns a living wage. We can pay for and continue to offer our free soil testing and heavy metal screening services for disadvantaged communities. We can continue to connect communities to food access, land access, agricultural support, city officials and services. We can continue to develop educational materials and workshops. We can continue to fight and advocate for the communities that need it the most.
With your continuing support, let's make that difference together today.
